Tails Of Triumph!
Kim & River
A year ago, I wouldn’t have thought to take River with us on a family trip to Bar Harbor, Maine. Even though/especially because it is so dog friendly. The work is working y’all!
We had a successful trail walk today. Lots of bikes, walkers/joggers and some other dogs and he handled all of it like a champ! Thank you 🙏🏻 Alison & Rebecca for helping me boost my confidence in handling his reactivity!
Nataya & Louie/Kasha
After working with multiple different trainers and not feeling like we were making progress on our big issues I sought out POMC for my dog aggressive and reactive bull breed. They saw the struggles we were facing, asked what I was hoping to accomplish through training, and came up with a training plan. We worked on foundation skills with Alison and then behavior modification with Alison and Rebecca. They were very realistic and honest with what our goals should be and what is fair to expect out of my dog. Despite his behavioral issues Alison compliments him and is happy to see him during his classes. Alison recommended trying out nosework classes for my spicy boy for fun and bonding and we have been doing it since. I have enjoyed the classes so much I enrolled my other dog in them as well!
Jessica & Linus
I was referred to POMC in 2020 after going to a well-known dog training facility in southern NH. Linus and I started with private lessons with Alison working on behavior modification, becoming less reactive to people, eventually less reactive to dogs as well. We left every class with clear direction and a printed-out handout of what we were expected to work on. By the end of our private lessons Linus and I were confident in public places with people and other dogs. Alison always made our lessons fun, and you can see how much she truly cares about what is best for the dogs. Linus and I then took a stab at Rally Obedience with Rebecca. I have never laughed so hard while training. Linus and I tried our heart out, and Rebecca had great patience with us. Linus has even participated in their day school; this has really helped with his confidence and separation from me.
POMC does a great job of having classes that are fun for everyone and all dog breeds.
The Cheever Crew
Working with Rebecca and Alison has taught me so much about relationship building and communicating with my dogs clearly. In a short amount of time, I’ve seen clear evidence of my dogs being more engaged me with as their handler and they are excited to do the work! Their training approach is fair, and it is clear. Don’t expect a typical training experience. Rebecca and Alison will provide direction when it’s needed, but also challenge you to think through what you’re working on so you’re actively involved in the training plan and process. In group classes, they do a great job creating the environment for students to engage, and work together. We learn and grow alongside our dogs, together which is special. Very thankful that we get to work with POMC!

John, Tracey & Mikey!
We started working with Rebecca & Alison when we adopted Mike, who at the time, appeared to be almost completely deaf and had some questionable vision issues. We were looking for training that would help us engage & communicate with Mike while working around his challenges. Well the joke was on us, Mike is not nearly as deaf as we thought. However, thanks to Rebecca & Alison we consistently engage with Mike now, while he can hear us and are also prepared to successfully engage with him in the event he can no longer. Our biggest fear with adopting a hearing-impaired dog was not have a reliable means of recall. After training at POMC that fear is completely gone!
Kim & Mika
Walking into our first lesson Mika was barking at everything in the parking lot; it was clear how reactive my GSD had become. We’d already spent a year or so on basic skills and obedience, but we were clearly missing something essential. Rebecca taught me how to build a strong relationship with my dog. I learned how holding Mika accountable to fair standards build confidence and clarity in my dog. This was the missing piece for us and way more important than sit/stay/come. We’ve done several POMC classes like Nose work, out-and-about and day school, Mika loves them all and no longer barks at everyone. Now, I can bring her for an off leash walk on the trails, downtown to the farmers market and on cross country road trips. Thanks to our lessons, I know when to make space and when to work through a situation (and how!). Thank you POMC!

Andrea & Oakley
Oakley was 7 months old when I got her, my first dog on my own. We quickly started basic obedience classes at a cookie-cutter style, one-size fits all training company. After the 4 classes I still felt that Oakley didn’t respect me, and I didn’t feel confident as her handler. I was referred to POMC by a friend. Starting with the evaluation with Alison, I have felt our individual needs and goals have been the priority. I can’t even begin to say how grateful I am that we did private classes at POMC. I’ve learned to provide clarity, and she has learned that mom can handle the situation so that she doesn’t have too, Most importantly we have become a team! Training has become such a positive and enjoyable experience, something that we both enjoy because of the trainers at POMC. Rebecca and Alison will be your dog's best advocates, they will help you be safe and fair in your training. They will also help you to understand the “why” and the theory behind everything they are teaching you and your dog. Oakley and I are now working on remote collar conditioning and looking forward to starting the Intro to Nosework class at POMC next month!
